Let me introduce myself. My name is **************, I am fourth PhD Student in Sociology (Institute of Social Sciences of University of Lisbon) and my thesis is about the information sharing.
My research project includes a sociological examination of a so-called “Pirate Culture”. One of my hypothesis is to attempt to show how the public policies of communication and technology help to establish a new behavior to form new movements and new identities that emerge within this "culture".
For that, among others, I will use the Pirate Party case to help me. My intention is not to differentiate legal and illegal practices about information sharing. Above all, I intend to discuss, in its different aspects, the social and political changes resulting from new cultural practices of integration that shape the "Pirate Culture" that emerge as an important issue in the centre of the current technological society.
I already have talked with members of Pirate Party of Brazil and Portugal. Also, I did a simple interview with Rick Falkinge, Amelia Andersdotter and Christian Engström, to understand the beginning of the movement. Now, I need some help from other pirates to get a view around the World. Can you help me? And also indicate me other pirates with patience to do that?
I send my questions inline. I apologize to bother you with this questions that I might know the answer, because I have been researching about this theme for three years. But it is a protocol for a Phd thesis. Hope you understand!
Best Regards,
Questions:
Name: (It’s not mandatory)
Age: (It’s not mandatory)
Gender:
From:
1.How did you get involved with the pirate's movement?
2. How is your involvement within the movement (Local Party, PPI, PPEU, etc.)?
3. Today is possible to identify a pirate's practice and one that is not pirate? How?
4. What is the reason to be a pirate? How do you convince someone to become a pirate?
5. Who is Rick Falkvinge for the pirates? Is he the “poster boy” of the international movement? What do you think about him calling himself a "political evangelist”?
Can you answer me some critics that I've really already heard?
6. "The pirates' movement are cooperating with a consumers' ideology and collaborating to increase the digital monopolies".
7. “The pirates have a messianic confidence in information sharing and in the technology as the only resources capable to fully empower citizens and give back to the society, justice, peace and brotherhood”.
8. “The pirates have no care about important themes, like welfare, palestine's question, immigrants, gender's question, labor division, etc...”
9. “They claim to be possible to create a "Liquid Democracy" and a State with transparency, but we have experience for many years as a political party, and we know that it is completely utopic because people do not worry about their rights or a political participation, just about their direct needs”.
ΥΓ. "a sociological examination of a so-called “Pirate Culture”"... μπες στο φόρουμ των Ελλήνων ήθελα να του πω να δεις περιπτώσεις κοινωνιολογικής μελέτης και όχι μόνο...
